Prizes worth over $30,000 are up for grabs in igloohome’s first design challenge

SINGAPORE – 30 April, 2020 – igloohome, the local smart access company that creates smart locks and lock boxes, has organised its first design competition to engage Singaporeans over the extended circuit breaker measures. Aptly named as The igloohome Design Challenge: Circuit Disrupt, the competition aims to unlock the inner creator, innovator and designer in people by giving them something meaningful to think about. From 30 April till 1 June 2020, participants have 4 weeks to submit a concept or prototype that contributes to smarter ways of living.

Supported by the InfoComm Media Development Authority’s (IMDA) Accreditation@SG Digital programme, Singapore Management University (SMU), Stanford ChangeLabs, K3 ventures, PogenV, Really.sg and more, Circuit Disrupt aims to reshape what a circuit breaker means by representing positivity, and encouraging creativity in the community.

Participants can create solutions that can range from digital tools, physical products, service proposals to even spatial designs. Solutions that revolve around smart access will also stand a chance to have their submissions brought to life, together with igloohome. The smart access solution provider is keen on co-creating any good ideas that come from this challenge.

The judges of the challenge have extensive experience in design and solutions. From Head of Design, Philips, Low Cheaw Hwei to the founder and director of Stanford ChangeLabs of Stanford University, Banny Banerjee; participants get a chance to share their ideas with some of the top designers around. The judges will also offer mentorship to winning teams to help take their ideas forward.

Apart from cash, the prizes also include hotel stays at the Shangri-La and lyf by Ascott, co-working space access at SMU Institute of Innovation & Entrepreneurship (IIE)’s new innovation facility - The Greenhouse and mentorship programmes.
